The Cleveland Museum of Natural History may be most famous for its one-time curator Donald Johanson, who discovered the ancient skeletal remains of the hominid Lucy, in 1974. However, for lovers of science and nature, there are plenty of exhibits to view as well, including a tyrannosaur specimen, the remains of the famous sled dog Balto, an impressive mineral collection that includes a moon rock, and much more. The museum resides in the city's University Circle, about five miles east of the downtown area.
